Skip Order Guide

What area does BJ Skips cover?

At present our Skip Hire service covers the local authority areas of Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan.

What type of skip do I need?

Whatever your skip requirements we have the answer. We keep a wide range of skips in stock in our yard; from small skips suitable for personal building or clearance projects through to skips suitable for the largest of construction sites.

Where will the skip be placed?

If the Skip is to be kept on a public highway the local authority requires you to pay them for a permit. The charge for this varies depending on how long the skip will be on the road for and in which area it is. This is not a charge levied by BJ Skips but by the local authority. BJ Skips are pleased to deal with the permit on your behalf. You will have to pay for the permit the same time as you pay for the skip.

Don’t forget that there must be enough room to place the skip, and appropriate access for the lorry that will deliver it and pick it up when it’s full.

What can be put in a skip?

Many types of waste can be disposed of by using a suitable skip, however there are some limitations due to environmental legislation. For example refrigerators, freezers and televisions can not be put in a skip, nor can chemicals, asbestos and paint. Please contact BJ Skips if you are unsure.

Remember – skips should be level-loaded to ensure safety.

How do I order and pay for a skip?

If this is a one-off order you can order by telephone and pay by credit or debit card. Alternatively the driver will be pleased to pick up payment when the skip is delivered.
Please use our quick quote form or telephone us if you would like a quotation.

If you are a regular customer such as a builder or represent a large organisation we will be pleased to set up an account so that your orders can be processed with the minimum of fuss.
Please contact BJ Skips to start the process of setting up an account.

Then, all you need to do is to tell us where and when you want the skip.

We normally expect a skip to be ready for collection within a maximum of seven days. In exceptional circumstances we may be able to extend the time that the skip is on site. Please be aware that if the skip is on the road and the local authority permit expires there will be a further charge for a new permit.

What happens to the contents of the skip?

BJ Skips is a licensed waste transfer station; we sort the waste and dispose of it in the most environmentally friendly way.
